WHAT MATTERS TO US

The Sustainability Label South Tyrol by IDM is based on the GSTC criteria and takes into account the conditions of South Tyrol. The criteria are divided into 4 areas: management, socio-economy, culture, and ecology. We’re especially proud that our Kessler’s Mountain Lodge has been awarded the highest level, i.e. Level 3, which is equivalent to the globally recognised GSTC standard.

For our culinary offering, we source selected food and products from local retailers, farms and producers in the surrounding area. We also use products from our own farm and work with selected businesses from the region.

For the exterior façade, cladding, roof structure, windows, doors and interior staircases of our lodges, we used larch wood sourced from the surrounding area. The larch wood used comes from within a radius of just a few kilometres. The craft businesses involved in the construction were also based in the surrounding area. The building also holds CasaClima A certification.

Our garden features a variety of native trees, shrubs and flowers, complemented by our own herb garden.

We source green electricity from the Brixen municipal utility provider. We use LED technology to light our spaces. In addition, we measure and monitor our energy consumption as part of our carbon footprint assessment, allowing us to transparently track consumption data and identify specific areas for improvement.

At Kessler’s Mountain Lodge, we offer our guests the possibility to charge their electric car directly on site.

If you choose not to use your own car during your stay and arrive by public transport, you will receive a 5% discount on your stay when booking directly with us. Simply let us know at reception.

We predominantly use EU Ecolabel-certified cleaning products to clean our lodges. Daily cleaning is not provided as standard. On request, we offer an additional cleaning service for a fee.

We at Kessler’s Mountain Lodge use the Natural Remedies beauty products by the South Tyrolean brand Prima, which help to regenerate the skin thanks to the beneficial properties of natural ingredients. Their soothing and nourishing effect is achieved thanks to organic extracts of nettle, sage, and blackcurrant. The carefully balanced formula and natural ingredients are a tribute to the diverse natural resources and invite you to live in harmony with nature.

At Kessler’s we’re deeply integrated into the local village life, are members of numerous associations, and actively support them. We embrace South Tyrolean traditions and honour the special features of our village. We’re proud of our history and want to pass on our values, culture, and traditions not only to our children, but also to our guests.

As part of our sustainability strategy, we created a historical educational trail featuring traditional agricultural and handcrafted tools from South Tyrol.

Many of these objects were once used in the daily work at the historic Kösslerhof farm and today serve as reminders of what life and work on the farm were like in the past.

Through informative stations with descriptions and historical background, we aim to:

• preserve the region’s cultural heritage,
• share local knowledge and traditions with our guests,
• raise awareness of sustainable lifestyles practiced in the past,
• strengthen the connection between nature, agriculture, and tradition.

The trail was created using original historical artifacts already available on the property and integrated into the indoor and outdoor areas of the Lodge in a natural and authentic way.

Our team helps us to fulfil our promise of quality to our guests and to constantly improve. Our employees are particularly important to us and we take concrete measures to be an attractive employer. We offer various benefits and a familiar working atmosphere in which our employees can actively contribute and develop.

Help us protect nature by sorting your waste carefully. You’ll find the waste and recycling point inside the building, next to the laundry room.

Food waste and general waste: Collect these separately in the two grey bins in your apartment.
Cardboard, cans, plastic bottles and glass: Use the green basket to carry them to the recycling point and sort them into the appropriate containers.
Batteries and electrical devices: Please hand them in at reception.

You’ll find bin bags and paper bags for food waste under the kitchen sink. You can pick up more at reception whenever you need them. To make recycling as effective as possible, we also check the waste you’ve already separated and sort it further where needed. Unsure what goes where? Millions of tonnes of edible food are thrown away every year. To prevent this, we’ve set up a food exchange corner. Guests leave their leftovers there so that the next person can enjoy them. We also make sure that the quantities of food we process are in line with consumption, so that as little as possible is discarded.

Would you like to do something to help the environment during your stay? We’d be happy if you do, because it’s the little things that – when summed up – make the real change. Here you find some concrete examples:

• Bring your own slippers from home.
• Be careful not to waste water.
• In the sauna, use towels sparingly.
• Take advantage of our flexible cleaning service and ask us to change your towels and bed linen only when necessary.
• Open the windows of your chalet or apartment briefly in the morning and then avoid leaving them open all day to reduce excessive heating.
• In South Tyrol, we can enjoy first-class water from the tap. Please avoid buying plastic water bottles.
• Let us know if there are products in the breakfast basket that you don’t need. By doing so, we avoid wasting food.
• Travel by public transport and get an exclusive 5% discount on your stay.
